PSA

 

The Parent/Staff Association is the body which raises funds for the school, and supports the school in its work.  Every parent and member of staff is a member of the PSA and welcome to attend meetings or get involved.

Every year, we hold a number of fund-raising events, which have included fairs at Christmas, Easter and in the summer, Quiz Nights, Bingo Nights, a Pamper Night and some treats for the children including parties at the end of term and Bubble Days (where the children pay a small fee to burst bubbles in the playground).

Who is on the PSA?

All parents are members of the PSA and are welcome to attend meetings and help at events. However, we have some key people who take charge of organising events, managing the money and keeping parents informed:

Treasurer - Sharon Gallagher

Each class has two or more PSA representatives who help to organise parental participation in fund-raisers, and act as link between the PSA committee and parents; please do volunteer if you’d like to become one. Lists to be confirmed at a later stage.

  • 25th November - Drop & Shop - 9am - 1pm in the main hall (more details in the Newsletter)

Second Hand Uniform

We still have plenty of second-hand uniform for sale, but weather is a bit unreliable for outdoor sales this term. If you are in need of some second hand uniform then please get in touch with one of the committee. Please leave any donations of unwanted uniform at the office in a labelled bag.

What did we spend the money on last year (Sept 15-Jul 16)?

All children, from Nursery to Year 2, benefit from the money raised by the PSA. Purchases have included:

  • School Trips subsidy and Nursery Farm Visit, to help keep trips at a reasonable cost (£2,435)
  • Year Group “Wish List”, for educational toys/equipment, games, books, etc. (£2,162)
  • Reception’s Play Area (climbing frames) £3,000
  • Playground Equipment/toys (£1,036)
  • “You got a friend in me” (Anti-Bullying workshop) £1,000
  • Mini-moo Art Project £650
  • Additional requests for PSHE Books, Year 2: Outdoor Play Trays, Year 1: Crafts for Children’s Puppet Show (£240)
  • Scholastic Book Rewards (£811 of free books following our book sales)
  • Swimming Pool toys/floats (£150)
  • Emergency Kits, including foil blankets for 400 children (£260)
  • Money Trail collection (Butterflies in Rowan, Nursery Water Trays & Balls, Year Rec Books, Year 1 Tshirts & fabric pens, Year 2 Feather souvenir from Bird World trip)
  • Portable Sound System (for Sports Day/Outdoor events) and Clocks (damaged in the storms!)
  • Various gifts for celebrations throughout the year (e.g. Crackers for the Christmas Lunch, Small Easter Eggs, Ice Pops on Sports Day, Year 2 Leavers gifts and Dance Festival)
  • Swimming Pool fund - The PSA also holds funds in reserve, so that if any repairs are needed, they can be done immediately without having to raise additional funds, minimising disruption to our children’s swimming lessons

 

Donations always welcome…

As you can see from the list above we spent a lot of money last year and with an ever-growing “wish list” from the children and teachers, your donations of time and gifts are always welcome!  Whenever you have a clear-out at home, please think whether it would be useful for the school or for our fundraising events. For example, books for the library, dressing-up clothes or role-play toys such as dolls’ prams (for Nursery/Reception), spare uniform/PE kit (for sale or as spares in the classroom) outdoor waterproofs, wellies, plants, junk boxes, fabric/curtains (for art/painting), unwanted gifts (for raffle prizes), small toys/gifts (for lucky dip stalls)...

 

If you have anything suitable, please contact a member of the committee to arrange collection/drop off.

How can you get involved?

We are always looking for new people to get involved, with opportunities ranging from joining the committee, to organising specific events, or doing a few jobs at home, such as wrapping boxes or tearing raffle tickets in advance of events.  If you’d like to get involved, please speak to one of the committee or your class rep, and let them know what you’d be prepared to do, and how you’d like to help.

The PSA are very proud to be able to support all our children with all these things and we really could not do it without all the amazing support from parents and staff.  Without it, our children would miss out on all of these things as the school's budget would not be able to purchase all these things.  Please continue to support us so we can continue to give these extras to our children.

*** 100 Club ***

This year we are re- launching our 100 Club! For £10 a year (for 10 draws), you can buy a number for our 100 Club draw. Each month, half the money goes to the school and the other half is split into 2 prizes. If your number is drawn, you win! Numbers must be paid for in advance, for the whole year.

For more information, look out for posters around the school, or the flyer in your child’s bookbag.
