Language Day
Every March, our school comes together for Language Day—a celebration of the cultures and languages that make our school community so special. We begin in the morning with a French breakfast, where children put their language skills into practice by ordering baguettes, croissants, or pains au chocolat. Throughout the rest of the day, each class immerses itself in a different country, exploring its traditions, geography, and heritage. We also have a visit from drama companies, such as Onatti and the Freshwater Theatre Company, who deliver interactive workshops.
Language Day is a highlight of our academic calendar that our children look forward to all year long!
Language Ambassadors
Our Language Ambassadors are student champions who celebrate culture and communication across our school. These dedicated leaders support bilingual peers, help organise events like Language Day, and promote language learning throughout the year, ensuring our school remains a welcoming, inclusive place for everyone.
Language of the Month
Every month, we explore a new language and culture in our Language of the Month assemblies. The language ambassadors lead the assemblies and we often have some special guests. From learning basic greetings to discovering global traditions, children expand their horizons, celebrate our school’s diversity, and build essential global awareness.
Lunchtime Language Club
Our Language Club is a child-led activity where children take the lead in sharing and exploring new languages and cultures. Using their leadership skills, the children create short activities and games for their peers.
